Mark you calendars, we are excited to have another awesome paddle school this year! We welcome brand new paddlers and seasoned paddlers interested in growing their skill set. 

Whitewater Paddle School will take place on June 16-18 on the Hiawassee and Ocoee Rivers. Camping will be in the group camping field at Hiwassee State Scenic Rivers' Gee Creek Campground.

Gee Creek Campground offers public water and a bathhouse containing sinks, commodes, and hot showers near the center of the campground. The bathhouse is available to campers at no additional charge.

If you are bringing an RV, please connect with the Park Service to inquire if the group camping area is suitable for your rig.  There are no electric hooks and generators are not permitted.

Basic outline Whitewater Paddle School

• Friday June 16, 2023
  • 4pm: set up camp and check in for paddle school
  • Meet instructors
• Saturday June 17, 2023
  • 730am: final check in
  • 8am: Safety briefing
  • 9am: Class begins
  • Lunchtime: Bring your own lunch
  • 4pm: everyone off the water
  • 6pm: Dinner provided by the Club
  • 7pm: The Famous Chota Canoe Club Auction fundraiser!
• Sunday June 18, 2023
  • Pack up camp
  • 9am: Class resumes
  • Paddle school ends, depart from the river take out.
• Join training trips throughout the summer to keep progressing your new skills and meet new paddlers.
