Sandhill cranes are majestic birds that migrate thousands of miles across North America every year, following ancient routes and rhythms. There are four main pathways for the migration of these birds. We are fortunate to have one near us on the Hiwassee River! This trip is for experienced paddlers with cold weather paddling gear. Boats need to be at least 14 ft long. Where we put in we will have to paddle downstream first, with possibly a hard slow paddle back depending on the upstream current. We need to start early as it is getting darker so early in January. Be sure to have your cold weather gear, plenty of water, and a snack. We will stop about half way for lunch. We will put in at Hwy 58 Bridge boat ramp on the Hiwassee. The address for the boat landing is 3806 TN-58, Georgetown, TN 37336.
Not everyone gets to experience this amazing bird migration. Come join us and make a memory of a lifetime.
