Information
Primary River: Upper Pigeon
Point of contact: George Hawkins and Bryan Hooks
Required gear: Coast guard approved PFD, whitewater canoe or kayak with floatation, skirt for your kayak, water sports helmet, paddle, appropriate clothing for the water’s temperature, closed toes shoes (no water sandals), water bottle that clips into your boat.
Optional gear: Lunch, first aid kit
Experience necessary to determine suitability: This river is somewhat short, compared to the Nantahala. Some say one big step up from Nantahala and somewhat more difficult than the French abroad 9 section. Boat placement, reading water, a roll are skills you need.
