Information
Primary River: Lower Nolichucky below the Gorge
Alternate River is Lower Pigeon
Point of Contact: Shaun Mullins
Experience necessary to determine suitability: This is a 4.5 mile long section of the Nolichucky just below the Gorge section with a difficulty level of Class II (III). That means it is mostly Class II, but there is one Class III rapid (Radio Tower). It is suitable for those who are not total beginners, but have some basic skills maneuvering on fast moving water, and at least some experience on class II whitewater. More advanced paddlers are also encouraged to participate and we can work on some more advanced skills for those people if desired. The Nolichucky is a natural flow river, so if we get significant rain, it could be higher and more of a class II+ (III) run. Normal flows for June are around 800-1200cfs. Cutoff flows for this trip will be minimum of 750cfs and maximum of 3,500cfs. I may reassess the max depending on the skills of the group participants.
We are limited to 10 participants.
