Beautiful, river-like Chilhowee Lake forms above the Chilhowee Dam of the Little Tennessee River and provides part of the boundary between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Cherokee National Forest.
We'll take an (approximately) 8-mile tour of this scenic gem, which is popular with anglers as well as rec boaters. This interactive map from the TN DNR shows some area features.
DATE: Sunday, July 28
TIME: Meet at 9:00 am at the put-in (no shuttle!); take out by 1:00pm
LOCATION: Boat ramp is just off Hwy 129 at the East end of Abrams Creek Bridge. Pull off to the side of the road where you see a parking lot.

BEST FOR: Hard-sided kayaks or canoes. We'll aim for a 2+ mph pace with consistent forward progress. Inflatable kayaks not recommended.
