Cherokee Lake island hopping
October 20
9:30 a.m.
Meet at Grainger county park
12553 Lakeshore Dr.
Rutledge TN 37861
We will explore an island chain in the middle of Cherokee lake and then explore the lake shore of Panther Creek State Park. This will be a minimum of 8 miles with the opportunity to explore more depending on how the group is feeling. As the lake level drops, more islands are exposed, creating more places to explore. We could potentially be out of our boats for substantial periods of time exploring the campsites, old road ways and homesites in this island chain. Prepare for muddy landings on the islands by bringing a change of shoes for the drive home. Pack a lunch to enjoy on the island.
Note that this paddle will include about a mile of open lake that can be rough depending on the wind.
