Information
This will be an 11.6 mile shuttle trip on the Middle & Lower Hiwassee from the Charleston Ramp on Water St. (River Mile 19.7) to the Hwy 58 Bridge (River Mile 8.1). The RT shuttle drive is 32 miles. Those who wish to caravan to the put-in should meet at Denny’s on Watt Rd. at 8:30 am on Oct. 4. Alternatively, you can meet at the put-in at 9:30 am. We will then set the shuttle, with the objective of launching by 10:45 am. We should be off the water by 2:30 pm.
While this is not whitewater, there is a current around 2-3mph. All paddlers should be able to maintain a sustained pace of 3 mph on still water. Minimum boat length is 12.5 ft. All boats should be hard shelled.
In order for shuttle logistics to work, we need at least one more paddler than vehicles. Please try to arrange multiple passengers per vehicle, if possible.
