Chota has the honor once again of presenting Kayaking 101 classes for our communities at two of our wonderful state parks. On May 16th, 2026, we will hold kayaking 101 sessions followed by a group paddle, at Sevens Islands State Birding Park, and Hiawassee Scenic River State Park. These courses are collaborations between the TWRA, local State Parks, and are an initiative to provide low-cost kayak education, as park of national safe boating week. We need safety paddlers and volunteers to join both crews. The Seven Islands group will be led by Terry Ray, and the Hiawassee State Park group will be led by Angela Wood.
