Information
Join us for a (hopefully) scenic Fall paddle on the Little Tellico River to the Chota Memorial, a full-scale representation of the townhouse, or council house, originally erected by the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians.
We will meet up at Harrison Branch boat ramp at 08:30 and be underway by 09:00. Then paddle along the Little Tellico approximate 4-4.5 miles, depending on the water level and take out options. Then a short hike to the memorial, where we will have lunch, and reverently, explore the archaeological site.
Harrison Branch Boat Ramp: 5036 Calderwood HWY., Tallassee, TN
This is not a beginner friendly paddle. Participants must be able to paddle, up to 4 total hours, unaided by current, at cadence near 3mph.
PFD, whistle, and appropriate kayak or canoe required
Alcohol prohibited until we're off the water.
Despite our current oppressive heatwave, water and air temps in mid-October are typically cooler. Dress accordingly and always plan for immersion. Bring water, snacks, and other essentials.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled 48 hours prior.
