Camping Social at Big South Fork

Information

Let’s go camping together in Big South Fork National Recreation Area! We reserved site D12 in Bandy Creek Campground for social time with you. Reserve your choice site in D Loop from recreation.gov and then choose your adventure hike, bike, or paddle. Looking forward to spending the weekend with you all! 

There will be loosely organized group activities to take advantage of what the park has to offer. LIkely, a moderate hike, a bike ride, and a group paddle trip will allow you to choose your adventure!

Friday

  • Set up your camp and then join us for a social bonfire 
  • Bring a snack to share if you’d like. We’ll need those calories for all these activities that have been planned.

Saturday

  • Saturday optional activity: Sunrise Hike led by Greg
    • Twin Arches Trail: 30 min drive from Bandy Creek campground. 1.7 mile loop round trip to go up and over the arches. The hike is moderate difficulty sharp incline or decline and walking along a steep drop.
  • Saturday optional activity: Boating Trip
    • TBD Bring your equipment and dry suit!
  • Saturday optional activity: Bike Trip led by Jordan
    • Grand Gap Loop is 7 miles that can be extended to 14 miles if we would like to. Mountain biking is rated at 3 out of 5 difficulty. There are several spots that require walking bikes.
  • Saturday social time in camp

Sunday

  • Hike 
    • Hike Grand Gap Loop 7 miles round trip to the Angel Falls overlook. This hike is rated 3 out of 5 difficulty and has rocky terrain and steep overlooks.

Registration Tip: 

  1. Ensure your $20 annual membership is current, or formally join Chota Canoe Club by paying your first annual dues. Join or renew Chota Canoe Club membership
  2. Then, return to the event registration page to complete registration.
